Who am I?

I’m Scot Lerner, and I bring more than 30 years of photographing people, both locally and internationally.   I’m originally from Canada, and I started my Photography career working on Cruise Ships where I learned to be efficient (have you ever been photographed on a cruise?). I’ve been in the Photo Industry for a while now, but I’ve specialized in Headshots in Orlando, Central Florida, and beyond(!) for more than 15 years.

Why should I be the one to shoot your Headshots?

There are many photographers in Central Florida, and it seems like there are more and more every day. Some are good at what they do, and a lot are just enthusiastic hobbyists with smart cameras. Shooting Headshots is a unique niche that is different from other types of Portrait photography, and one that needs a Photographer experienced in photographing Headshots. It’s about really seeing  you – not just having a nice camera.

So how do you know who is right to shoot your photos?

First, look at the samples (BTW, you can always see my  newest Headshots on my Instagram). If you don’t like the work, you should stop right there and move on. What’s the style? For my Business Headshots, we need to decide how you want to be perceived , both within your industry and to potential clients. For my Entertainers Headshots, I want a natural & comfortable feel. I don’t chase that perfect, beauty-pageant, every-hair-in-place appearance. You have to look like you.

Next, I listen.   Your Headshot session is a collaboration between you and I. It’s my job to check all the photographic boxes – lighting, focus, composition – and to try to put you in a position to be comfortable and let the natural you come out.  Only you can say if the finished product truly represents who you are. It needs to show your  Personality, your  Experience, & your  Goals. You need to feel confident that the Headshot you present is a true portrayal of who you are – after all, it’s the first impression you’ll make in most situations. We shoot until we have shots you love – not until I get to a prescribed number of shots.

Last, I’ll caution you to not choose your Photographer just based on price. Aside from your own talent, your Headshot may be the most important investment you’ll make in your career. At the end of the day, I believe you get what you pay for. Take a look at my prices – I’m not cheap, but I’m not over-priced either. I’ve had Entertainer clients come from New York City because they can get a quality Headshot for a reasonable price compared to NYC prices. Reasonable is a good  word.

I work with new clients all the time, but I take particular pride when my clients come back to work with me when they need new Headshots because their appearance has changed, or when I receive referrals from people I’ve already worked with. Just check out my reviews.

I could tell you about the equipment I use, but really, it’s about your Headshots – not my tools. Does the newest, coolest hammer make the carpenter better?

Of course, the main reason you should consider working with me is the quality of my work.
