What does your profile picture say about you?

Everyone is online, and not just on Facebook. More and more, our online social media profiles are our introduction to the world, and the profile photo is our first impression. For better or worse, books are judged by their covers. I’ve seen a lot of bad profile pictures, and I’m sure you have, too. But in case you haven’t, take a look at what’s out there with a quick Google search.

If you’re reading this, I imagine you already understand the importance of a great headshot One that represents not just who you are, but where you want to be. we’ve all heard that you should dress for the job you want – your headshot or profile picture should reflect that. Years ago, when I was in a position that involved hiring others, I used online profiles as the first way-point in deciding whether or not to even interview a candidate. If they looked like a jack-ass, and took no pride in the picture and profile, their resume had better kick ass to overcome the initial (not-so-great) impression.

So the point of all this is that a great headshot photo is valuable to more than just Actors. How many times have you looked online for a professional and seen outdated pictures that looked like the person in the photo hated having their picture taken?
